“Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs”

Alan Cumming is a shape-shifting trickster as enthralling and nimble with Shakespeare as he is with show tunes, an irresistible presence in any room. From Cabaret to The Good Wife, Cumming’s astounding talent has made him a favorite of stage and screen. Named one of the most fun people in show business by Time magazine, the Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor, singer and author brings to Portland his raucous one-man show (accompanied by piano and cello) Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs. Inspired by Cumming’s infamous Club Cumming, set in his dressing room during the revival of Cabaret on Broadway, and recently scoring rave reviews during a residency at New York’s legendary Carlyle Hotel, this tour-de-force performance is an eclectic, wildly entertaining mix of intimate stories—from the sentimental to the sassy—and witty reinterpretations of pop songs and stage classics.
