2017 MECA Holiday Sale

The Holiday Sale supports MECA’s education, outreach, and student programs while providing an opportunity for MECA students, alumni, faculty and staff to sell unique, handmade arts, crafts and gifts for the holiday season. FREE Admission – All Ages!

This year’s Holiday Sale at the Maine College of Art (MECA) will be held on Friday December 1, 2017 from 5pm to 9pm and Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10am to 5pm. In its 23rd year, the MECA Holiday Sale is the Arts District’s premier holiday sale event, connecting Maine makers and buyers, providing an experience beyond shopping.The juried 2017 Holiday Sale will include over 50 alumni vendors, selling handmade ceramics, jewelry, furniture, prints, and textiles. Student vendors include the Printmaking, Illustration, Metalsmithing & Jewelry, and Drawing departments.

The Joanne Waxman Library at MECA will be holding their annual book sale during Holiday Sale hours. All of the proceeds from the book sale will benefit the Library.

Portland Brewers Holiday Dash 5K

Join Portland Trails & Ri Ra Irish Pub for a Portland holiday tradition, featuring local craft brews! Run the trails in your festive gear, and enjoy a hearty beer-brunch and winter cheer. We will run (and brunch) through snow, shine, wind or sleet!

Race starts at 11am, with a brunch by RiRa Irish Pub to follow. Your race entry supports Portland Trails and the trails and green space you know and love.

Join Full Plates Full Potential as they host a tasting event inspired by the whimsy of the holiday season featuring Greater Portland’s most creative pastry chefs, bakers, confectioners, gelaterias, mixologists – and a few savory friends to balance the palate. Proceeds benefit the goal of ending child hunger in Maine.

Energy efficiency, clean air, and renewable energy sources are a priority for NRCM. Every cent raised from the Dip & Dash will be used to directly support our work for a clean energy future for Maine.

Follies at The Strand

Stephen Sondheim’s legendary musical is staged for the first time at the National Theatre and broadcast live to cinemas. New York, 1971. There’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves.
