The 5^thAnnual Tri for a Cure will take place on Sunday, July 29 at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland. Registration will begin in early February. The course starts on the beach at Spring Point Headlight and features a 1/3 mile swim, 15 mile bike ride through South Portland and Cape Elizabeth, and finishes with a 3/1 mile run from Spring Point Head Light to Bug Light in South Portland, winding back to the Southern Maine Community College campus to the finish line. Julie Marchese and Abby Bliss co-founded Tri for a Cure in 2008. Marchese, a cancer survivor, and Bliss, a dedicated triathlete and volunteer, combined their passions for health and supporting Maine Cancer Foundation’s mission to create Tri for A Cure. Now in its fifth year, the all-women’s triathlon raises crucial funds to combat cancer by supporting research, education, and patient assistance programs in the state of Maine.
