David Herring of Maine Huts & Trails

David Herring

Over the last five years,  David Herring of Maine Huts & Trails has built and opened three backcountry lodges and more than fifty miles of non-motorized trails for free, year-round use by the public.  Nearly 10,000 people have visited the huts and trails since Poplar Stream Falls opened in 2008.  Visitors have travelled from more than 25 states and several countries to see what Outside magazine, Boston Globe, Washington Post and others have touted as a fantastic, new resource for people of all ages to take part in healthy, outdoor recreation. Dave Herring is the organization’s first Executive Director and has served in that capacity since 2005.

Maine Huts & Trails will be featured in the November/December issue of Maine magazine.
