Callie & Harrison

June 25, 2016 | Chebeague Island Inn on Chebeague Island

Callie and Harrison met on their first day of college and began dating a couple of months later, remaining together as both attended graduate school. After Callie received her master’s degree, she celebrated with her family on a trip to Paris. Unbeknownst to her, Harrison also made the trip, and on a walk to visit the Eiffel Tower, he suddenly appeared, getting down on one knee and surprising her with an heirloom ring. The couple decided on Maine as their location because they had both spent time here as children, they wanted a destination spot for family and friends, and they liked that it was a special place they could visit together in the future. They found the right venue in the seaside Chebeague Island Inn, where guests enjoyed a welcome party, live music, golf, and beach time. The decor featured a soft, neutral palette and a casual yet elevated garden party feel with lawn games. Everyone danced the night away to live music before the couple made their grand exit. “One of our favorite memories is running off at the end of the night through a sea of sparklers,” says Callie.

SEASIDE CHARM

VENUE: “The Chebeague Island Inn offers quintessential seaside charm,” says Callie, who notes its water views, wrap-around porch, easy beach access, boutique accommodations, and locally focused menu.

COLORS: A soft, neutral palette complemented the surrounding landscape and the architecture of the property. “We fell in love with the 1920s charm of the yellow inn coupled with the lush grounds, and really used this as the basis for creating a palette that would work with the natural beauty of the property,” says Callie.

CAKE: Cake Elizabeth created a lemon cake with blueberry frosting, filled with lemon custard and fresh blueberry compote between the layers. “We have friends that still talk about the cake to this day!” she says.

LAWN GAMES: The groom’s parents handmade the corn hole boards that were set up on the inn’s large oceanside lawn.
