Kristine + Jason
REAL WEDDINGS-February 2013

September 15 | Camden
Jason and Kristine knew they wanted an unforgettable wedding destination where their guests could breathe the fresh air and kick up their feet. Jason’s family has been summering in Camden for four generations. The setting was off the beaten path for the New York couple, with fresh, signature cuisine to boot. Their ceremony was held outside at the local library amphitheatre, air crisp and sun beaming. Guests headed to the nearby Camden Yacht Club for the reception, where they sipped blueberry vodka gimlets while waiting for the newlyweds to arrive by boat. The tent glowed magically, lit to perfection with jewel-toned lanterns—a scene from a fairytale. Tables were topped with dahlias, ornate tea cans and exotic flea market finds. The old-world, down-to-earth vibe sprinkled with Asian flair was happy and totally authentic. Above all else, Jason and Kristine designed their wedding with guest experience in mind.
“OUR HAPPIEST MOMENT WAS AS WE APPROACHED THE RECEPTION. FROM OUR BOAT IN THE HARBOR, WE HAD A PERFECT VIEW OF THE YACHT CLUB AND ALL OUR GUESTS OUTSIDE ENJOYING COCKTAILS AND HORS D’OEUVRES!”
Why…
Young’s Lobster Pound for the rehearsal dinner?
The duo invited everyone to the rehearsal dinner, where they served tubs full of lobsters and steamers—a true Maine experience that helped everyone get acquainted.
did you change for the reception?
Kristine’s mom had a traditional Chinese dress called a qi pao made for her while she was visiting Shanghai.
Meagan Gilpatrick?
“I picked Meagan after having seen much of her work through her blog,” says Kristine. “Her work is so detailed, beautiful, and in the vein of both our tastes. We could not imagine our day being as perfect if not for her.”
so much attention to detail with the tent and lighting? Photos were of utmost importance, so they invested in a beautiful tent that specialist Tim Shields of Ambience Lighting arranged to perfection.
Camden Yacht Club for the reception?
Lots of reasons! The view of the harbor, walking distance to restaurants, perfect size, required no dance floor, and Maine charm. It also gave the couple flexibility and independence with the caterer.
