REAL WEDDINGS-February 2013

September 22 | Kennebunkport
Kim and Michael spent five summers in a row escaping the New York City heat to watch Fourth of July fireworks seaside in Kennebunkport. Their secret getaway turned out to be the ideal location for an intimate weekend wedding of 70 guests, who traveled from New York, California, Paris, and Italy to join them in celebration. Married on the first day of fall, they carried an autumnal theme throughout with bright pops of colored accents and flowers to contrast the green, rustic setting at Hidden Pond. From the lively band to handmade nametags and a warm, family-style seating arrangement, each element was playfully chic and unforgettable.
“WE WANTED TO KEEP THE WEDDING REALLY SMALL BECAUSE IT WAS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO US TO LOOK AROUND THE ROOM, KNOW EVERYONE WELL, AND HAVE A SPECIAL MEMORY WITH EVERYONE THERE.”
Why…
Earth at Hidden Pond?
“It had everything we wanted: intimacy, a natural setting, the best service, incredible food,” says Kim.
was the food such an important aspect of your reception? Mike is a chef in New York City and comes from a long line of them, so high-quality food and a lot of it was extremely important to them. The couple wanted guests to be full and happy, so they even served late-night nibbles during the after-party.
Nadra Photography?
The couple looked around at many different options, and for them, Nadra Edgerley stood apart. They found her work to be the most captivating and atypical, with lots of dramatic contrast.
Beautiful Days?
Kate Martin specializes in the “rustic chic” look they were going for. She executed the mix of outdoor and urban perfectly.
a live band? The couple wanted a fun, lively band and the Time Pilots, specializing in 80s and 90s music, fit their upbeat crowd and mood.
