Trained in both Veterinary medicine and art, Wood chooses a dialogue between her connection to all species of animals using a shifting perspective—creating planes which recede, tilt, and plunge—reinforcing the feeling of a vastness in nature, and uncertainty to the spatial dimensions of the painting. These juxtapositions of intersecting perspectives, near and far, above and below, before and after, ultimately consolidate to form a single image, one perceived from an indeterminate vantage point. This unsettling experience serves to articulate the metaphysical aspect of her work and the transient connection we have to the world around us.
