Richard Remsen owns and operates The Foundry in West Rockport, Maine, where he works as a glass artist and a steel and bronze sculptor. He studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and received his BFA in Sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. Mr. Remsen studied glass blowing with glass artists Dale Chihuly, Dominic Labino, Fritz Dreisbach, Italo Scanga, and Pino Signoretto.

Pepper Chandelier – blown and sculpted green glass leaf shapes with entwined yellow vines.

The installation Glass Claws: Pulse Point was originally exhibited at the Farnsworth Art Museum and was created with four plate glass panels embedded with X-ray scans of real lobster claws. Lobster shells in a variety of coral-hued glass mixed with natural greens, blues, and browns were piled like an ancient shell midden.

The Lures are typically over 20 inches in length and are created one at a time from muti-colored molten glass. Each piece is blown, formed into shape in the furnace, and then allowed to slowly temper. Each lure is then carefully fitted with cast and patinated bronze attachments and hooks.
