Wedding Design: Allure A La Chinoiserie
INSPIRATION WEDDINGS-February 2014

The remote and stately Eastman Hill Farm in Lovell was chosen for its rich history and Chinoiserie-style decor, which Paula Cano plays off of with enhancing fabrics and florals in this inspiration shoot. She worked closely with Dagmar Klosenski of Sash Couture to create a custom, nontraditional dress in a print inspired by floral patterns popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. “The cut was inspired by classic 1930s glamour with an over-styled train, dramatic plunging neckline, and open back,” says Cano. The flowers by Emily Carter Floral Designs are made to mimic floral patterns used throughout the shoot and create a kind of optical illusion when layered. In keeping with a the shoot’s theatrical nature, Jessica of Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott began her creative cake-making process at the bottom tier, depicting a stage and curtains opening to the buttercream flower. Papier designed the invitation suite with a theater playbook in mind, taking contrasting fabric in a deep green color with a gold Asian pattern as the cover to the book, and a heavy card stock band with gold letters inviting guests to open “A Love Story.”
