After years of friendship and dating, Megan and Cole were living in Denver. One weekend, she was home visiting family in Georgetown, Maine, while Cole was stuck in Colorado finishing up graduate school work—or so she thought. One morning she was walking along the beach looking for sea glass. After a red eye and a 5 a.m. bus, Cole called out to Megan on the beach. “I was completely shocked and speechless when I saw Cole walking towards me on the foggy beach with a little ring box in his hand and the biggest smile on his face,” says Megan. They hosted the reception at the barn at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.

“We wanted our wedding to be unique and filled with personal touches, and for guests to feel like they were walking into our home rather than a reception,” says Megan.

PHOTOGRAPHS DURING CEREMONY: Partway through the ceremony, everyone stopped to take a picture of the moment. “Cole and I took pictures of each other and our guests, while they took pictures of us,” says Megan. “These images are ones we cherish because they reflect an exact moment in time from a dozen perspectives, creating a collective memory that we will treasure forever.”

MAPS: Lisa Eaton of Bowtie.com designed the bow ties and ties, which were based on an antique topographical map of Bath. Megan used fabric with the same map to appliqué tiny hearts to vintage handkerchiefs for her mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, and grandmothers.

DECOR: On each table was a vintage postcard with a fun fact about Megan and Cole written on the back. There were multiple tables made of old wooden doors placed on whiskey barrels. Antique oil lamps were interspersed among mercury glass votives and old glass bottles containing bouquets of flowers.
