It seems only fitting to launch the Maine magazine Shop Blog with a shop that so perfectly exemplifies Maine style. Bliss is effortless fashion at its best. It’s refreshingly low-key and on-trend without being trendy—which in essence is what Maine style is all about.

As layering up in fall style is what they do best, Bliss truly shines this time of year. They have everything you need for the ultimate Maine fall outfit. Cozy sweater, skinny jeans tucked into boots, and the finishing touch—a soft patterned scarf so effortlessly thrown on at the last minute.

It’s clear Bliss knows that adding a scarf can take a so-so outfit to so, so chic in an instant. I keep eyeing their gorgeous selection of Epice scarves—a Danish line made from the highest quality silks, cottons, and wools. For tips on how to wear them, glance at one of the helpful looks they have displayed. If that doesn’t help, I guarantee at least one of the Bliss gals will be wearing one.

The center of the boutique is like an open shoe closet begging you to enter. Their brand of choice? Frye—the brand we Mainers love so much for its durability and style. My favorite of the bunch were the short booties, a hot fall trend that goes with anything. Tuck your skinny jeans or cords into them; wear them with tights and a dress… This shoe will be quickly become your best friend.

One thing not to miss is Bliss’s vast selection of TOMS. And whether you have a little one or not, you’ll have a major O-M-G moment when you spot the Tiny TOMS, adorable miniature versions of their popular styles.

Moving onto jeans, it’s hard not to miss Bliss’s denim wall—yes, an entire wall. Stacks of top designer brands—J Brand, Joe’s Jeans, AG, Citizens—in styles ranging from skinny jeggings to slouchy boyfriend jeans.

Next to the denim wall you’ll find another of fall’s biggest trends: printed, coated, and colored denim and cords. Think deep fall hues of rust, mustard yellow, and forest green. I’ve had my eye on the J Brand forest green skinnies. Top them off with a gorgeous heather gray New Scotland cashmere sweater, some Frye booties, and you’re good to go. Of course if you want to go bolder, Bliss has fun prints like denim on denim paisley, and sleek black-coated denim.

When it comes to dresses, Bliss has one of the most coveted and unbelievably versatile dresses around—the Butter by Nadia Signature Wrap dress. It’s rare that one boutique can cover all your wardrobe needs—from weekend wear to wedding attire—but with this dress, Bliss does just that.

Once you’ve been, you’ll find your visits to Exchange Street won’t be complete without taking “just a quick peek” in Bliss. Good luck leaving empty-handed.
