These two spent too much time freshman year at Colby College walking by one another and wondering. When their respective best friends decided they’d had enough of the quiet crushing, they finally set Dan and Marcy up. Both the bride and groom grew up in Maine and wanted to hold their wedding at a venue with a beautiful backdrop that was blank slate enough for them to custom design their own unique look. Clark’s Cove was perfect. Not wanting to busy friends and family on the day of the wedding, they decided to hire a day-of coordinator. Meghan Torrieri of b merry events, as it turned out, was extremely helpful with not only logistics, but the design as well. The result of their collaboration is a refreshing mix of rustic elegance and red rose opulence—deviations from some more typical wedding traditions and subtle incorporations of others.

WHY…

work with a planner and designer? The couple didn’t want family members to worry about anything on their wedding day, so they hired of Meghan Torrieri of  b merry events, who was a great help with planning and designing their wedding from Boston.

a videographer? A video and photographs were the only tangible products the couple could hold on to after the wedding, so they decided to weight those heavily in the budget. Many, Marcy knew, were skeptical of her assertion that a non-cheesy wedding video is possible, but Geoff Boothby proved them wrong.

that caterer? Dan and Marcy wanted to give their guests the experience of a high-end restaurant in a casual setting, and as soon as they tasted Stacey Glassman’s food they knew she was the perfect caterer to offer it to them. Glassman had farmers grow-to-order food for the couple’s menu and used as many other local ingredients as possible, cooked to perfection. Guests got a special kick out of the fact that the oysters came from the water they could see from the venue.

that stationery? “We wanted to put out the modern vibe, but also have it be relatively luxe materials, because people don’t get good mail anymore,” says Marcy.
