Something to Do: 

If you’re looking for one of the Mainiest activities that you can think of, look no further: Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8 mark the inaugural Wild Blueberry Weekend! Enjoy Maine’s state fruit in one of three ways: check out all the participating farms to pick-your-own berries and learn about the growing process, stop by any of the participating restaurants serving blueberry-inspired recipes, or head to any of the (many) participating breweries that have been toiling away to create the best blueberry brews. Plus, you can test out blueberry recipes (with your freshly picked berries) at home, and learn about the numerous health benefits packed into such a small fruit. Grab your family and friends and lean into the sweet taste of Vacationland!

Somewhere to Go: 

Thompson’s Point’s Summer Sunset series has been going strong this year! Featuring live music, food trucks, lawn games, and an on-site bar, these events take place every Thursday and Friday through early September, weather permitting. Today’s show was rained out, but tomorrow’s Summer Sunset LIVE will feature musical act Coyote Island, as well as a hefty lineup of food trucks including Mainely Hot Dogs, Mr. Tuna, and Eighty8 Donuts. Grab your picnic blankets and your sandals, the weather forecast on the Point is looking miiiiiiighty fine. 

Something to Eat: 

After opening in early July, Cafe Louis has been making waves in the South Portland culinary scene with its Costa Rican and Caribbean fare—in addition to a great brand graphic. Offering tasty morsels such as bluefin tuna crudo, a fiddlehead empanada, and the media noche (a sandwich with ham, roast pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and salsa louis), the Cafe Louis team is ready to sate your hunger. The cafe is open Thursdays—Mondays for brunch and dinner, so be sure to stop by this weekend.

Something to Drink: 

Have you ever gone on a shopping spree in Freeport and, after a few hours of browsing home goods, trying on clothes, and taking photos next to the giant Bean boot, found yourself practically dying of thirst? Good news! Mast Landing recently opened a new Freeport tasting room. Featuring indoor bar and lounge seating, outdoor tables, and food from Nighthawk’s Kitchen, Mast Landing’s newest venture serves as the perfect respite from retail therapy. Stop by the tasting room to test out Sanctuary, the beer brewed specifically to mark the company’s growth into Freeport! 

Something to Put on Your Radar: 

Mark your calendars! Next Thursday, 8/12, Campfire Pottery is hosting its very first Flower Potluck at Ember in Portland! Drawing inspiration from a traditional potluck, instead of bringing food, attendees will each bring a bucket of flowers to contribute! Upon arrival each guest will pick out a hand crafted vase to create a custom bouquet, and then the Campfire Team will lead a flower arranging lesson for the group. Small appetizers and beverages will be on hand, and there will be plenty of time for networking. Head to your garden, farmer’s market, or the nearest field of wildflowers, and start gathering your flowers to contribute.
