While the cold, rainy days this week were a bit of a mood killer, we can’t help but hope that it means the coming winter will make up for the lackluster show we got last year. Now’s the time to get in as many runs and hikes as you can, before microspikes and snowshoes become necessary. As for Halloween this weekend, it looks like a raincoat may be your best costume option. Something to Watch: 

What would Halloweekend be without a healthy dose of horror? This Friday, catch the final performance of Tophat Productions’ Little Shop of Horrors at Mayo Street Arts in Portland! A fun twist on the traditional musical, this production features classically trained opera singer David Worobec performing the entire cast of characters in miniature as a puppet show! The reserve seating has sold out, so grab general admission tickets while you still can!

Somewhere to Go: 

When was the last time you went on a brewery crawl? This Saturday, make sure you go to the East Bayside Halloweenfest in Portland! Organized by Lost and Found, the event features entertainment, food, and drinks at over 25 East Bayside businesses, with $1 of every pour going to benefit Maine Needs. Check out the full schedule, grab your umbrella, and plan accordingly!

In celebration of All Hallows’ Eve, Ruckus Donuts in Rockland is selling Halloween-themed Boo Boxes! Something to Do: 

Ready for something a little different to get into the Halloween spirit? Starting this afternoon, head to the Pejepscot History Center in Brunswick to enter a real life game of Clue! Held in the Skolfield-Whittier House, the hour-long game features costumed characters set throughout the historic mansion to guide you along the way as you try to figure out the identity of the murderer. Costumes are encouraged but not required, and each game will be followed by cocktails in the PHC exhibit gallery.

Something to Look Forward to: 

Maine Beer Company announced its newest beer earlier this week! Named Little Whaleboat IPA, this beer was brewed in honor of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Little Whaleboat Islands Project. To date, the brewery has donated $50,000 to help MCHT buy and conserve the islands. Mark your calendars! The light-bodied IPA will be available exclusively in bottles and on tap in the tasting room starting November 8.
