I took this photograph of my daughter gazing out to sea from our favorite spot—the rocky edge of Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk. We love coming here at least once a week when we can manage it, in every season, in every kind of weather. It has been one of my greatest joys to get to know this bit of coastline, and it never disappoints.
My husband and I moved our family to Maine in 2011 after living in Nashville for ten years. He grew up in northern Maine, and I had become a New Englander at heart after four years of college in Massachusetts, so we both knew we’d come back here one day. The beauty of Maine and the people I’ve met in the past five years have made me a more grounded person and have allowed me to expand creatively. The more I explore all that Maine has to offer, the luckier I feel to call this state home.
