For All The Mothers
Each May we take a moment to thank the mothers and mother figures in our lives. Mother’s Day will look a little different for everyone this year, but even if we can’t be with our parent for the holiday we still have an opportunity to show those who raised us how much their support, compassion, and guidance is valued. We’ve rounded up some worthy gifts below, should you be in need of inspiration that can be shipped directly to her doorstep.
Handcrafted by artisans in Istanbul, these statement Lobster Earrings by Ninon were inspired by the Aegean sea and its role in Roman and Greek mythology. Founded by Mert Aslan and Ahmet Güneş, the brand’s name honors Anne Ninon de l’Enclos, the 17th century Parisian author and patron of the arts. The earrings are a bold and sparking statement, and while they originate half a world away, they fit in seamlessly here at home.
Though everyone may try, it is impossible to rush the transition into Spring. However, this Floral Spring Gift Set by luxury clean candle company, LAFCO, will invoke the scents of the season right in one’s home. Burning their Duchess Peony and Star Magnolia candles may be the next best thing to 75 degree weather.
Christina Wang, a renowned visual artist and textiles designer based in New York City, says of her beloved cult-status cjw pajamas, “The Netflix and Chill PJ Set is made of a luxurious, silky material digitally printed with all the must-haves for the hunkering down inside: face mask, cashmere socks, take out, etc. They’re perfect for the homebody mom that already has everything!”
In With Marilyn: An Evening/1961, you’ll find photographer Douglas Kirkland’s collection of images that helps provide a clearer look at the mystical Marilyn Monroe. On assignment for LOOK Magazine in 1961, Kirkland captured some of the most honest photos ever taken of the superstar, and makes it almost impossible to look away.
Founded by mothers Sarah Kelly, a cancer survivor, and Leah Robert, her sister and an oncology nurse, the mission of Kennebunkport-based SaltyGirl Beauty is simple: to empower women by helping them to feel beautiful and confident, while also ensuring that everything they are using on their body is healing and nourishing. Their Signature Lipsticks are each named after inspiring women in their own lives. Also produced locally is the 3 Dot Turquoise Scarf from South Street Linen, where “all of our scarves are custom designed and block printed right here in Maine,” says Lynn Krauss, co-owner and creative director.
Whatever you call your mother: Mom, Mum, or Mama, Edie Parker can design the moniker onto one of its Custom Slim Jean acrylic clutches. Available in nearly endless color combinations, this sentiment is one she’ll want to hold on to–literally and figuratively (sorry). If you’re looking for a gift that is a little more day than night, these Jenni Kayne Shearling Moc Clogs’ cork sole molds to the wearers foot and feels like walking on air. The California designer is known for her cool, elevated basics, and these won’t disappoint.
As we move into warmer temps, there’s nothing better than a light, floral fragrance to evoke days spent outside enjoying the sun and fresh blooms. Acqua di Parma‘s Sakura Eau de Parfum melds notes of sakura, bergamot, and musk for a rich scent in an Art Deco bottle. Maison Francis Kurkdjian‘s À la rose Eau de Parfum blends rose, lychee, and peony, and makes you feel like you’re standing in a rose garden. And to round out the bouquet, Wild Vanilla Orchid Eau de Parfum by Floral Street is for the mother who enjoys a sweet scent, with vanilla alongside cassis, lemon, and orchid.
And finally, the gift of time travel–and this is only partially in jest. Dr. Augustinus Bader’s Rich Cream has become one of the most sought-after and sold-out items ever to hit the skincare industry. This intensely hydrating face cream stimulates the skin’s processes of rejuvenation, leaving the complexion bright and vibrant. It’s not a DeLorean, but it’s close.

Feisal Qureshi was training to be a pilot when he realized that he loved the architecture and design theory involved in hairstyling. Fast forward three decades later, and the Toronto-based Qureshi is recognized as one of the premiere stylists working today. He founded Raincry out of necessity to upgrade the hair tools available to the public, and also support the craftsmen who make them. They’re the perfect little luxuries for anyone on your list.
