Airing this Sunday, “Connecting Kids with Food” features Dr. Michael Dedekian of the The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center and Dr. Kevin Strong, CEO and founder of Dunk The Junk. Dr. Michael Dedekian

Dr. Dedekian received his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and his M.D. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He trained at UMass Memorial Children’s Hospital where he was Chief Resident in Pediatrics. He completed his fellowship in endocrinology and diabetes at Children’s Hospital, Boston and Joslin Diabetes Center.

Dr. Dedekian is a pediatric endocrinologist with Maine Pediatric Specialty Group and the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. He is the Medical Director of the Countdown to a Healthy ME program, a multidisciplinary clinical treatment program for children and adolescents working toward a healthy weight. He also serves as medical advisor to Let’s Go!, Maine’s own nationally recognized obesity prevention program. Let’s Go! is targeting other areas regionally and nationally and Dr. Dedekian is coordinating expansion of this program in central Massachusetts. His research interests include obesity and type 2 diabetes. He is currently a participating investigator in a pediatric sitagliptin drug trial. Dr. Dedekian’s academic appointment is assistant professor at Tufts Medical School.

Our second featured guest is, Dr. Kevin Strong, pediatrician and founder of Dunk the Junk.

Kevin is a pediatrician with an expertise in infant and child nutrition. He is a dedicated husband and father of 3 children. He enjoys graffiti, hiphop, and hoops. In his free time he can be found surfing Maine’s tortuous coast.
