Meredith Burgess
Meredith Burgess, State Representative and Breast Cancer Survivor is a fifth generation Maine native. Meredith founded Burgess Advertising and Marketing, a full service advertising, marketing and public relations firm, in 1986. In 1999, she began an very public battle with breast cancer that lead to her intensive advocacy to raise awareness and funds to make cancer a disease of the past. She re-energized the Maine Cancer Foundation into a statewide major funder of primary cancer research and all the money raised stays 100% IN Maine. In 2006, she was elected to the Maine State House of Representatives and is completing her third and final term later this Fall. As the House Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services, she has been involved in a variety of state programs to improve the health and care of Maine citizens. Meredith serves on numerous boards and foundations and is the mother of three adult sons and resides in Cumberland.
