Dr. Bryan Woods
Dr. Bryan Woods, of Maine Medical Center, has extensive training and experience in adult psychiatry. He received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis in 1989. He graduated from his psychiatry residency at the Louisiana State University Medical School, Department of Psychiatry in 1996, and he was appointed to the LSU faculty. In New Orleans, he was an attending psychiatrist at Charity Hospital and the psychiatrist at LSU’s outpatient HIV clinic treating patients at various stages of illness for co-occurring psychiatric complications.
Since coming to Maine in 2000, Dr. Woods has worked at Spring Harbor Hospital and the Riverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta. He returned to Maine Medical Center in 2006 to work in his current position as an attending and outpatient psychiatrist at McGeachy Hall in Portland. Dr. Woods specializes in the treatment of chronic, severe mental illness and psychopharmacology. He treats patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, from acute or mild problems related to adjustment or the effects of life stress to more severe and debilitating mental illnesses. He also provides clinical instruction to MMC residents and presents lectures regularly on topics related to psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology.
