Emily Murray

Emily Murray is the founding  director of Birth Roots, a perinatal resource center right here in Portland.   Emily started Birth Roots as a means of ensuring that families feel truly empowered and connected throughout pregnancy, so they can enter parenthood feeling confident, connected and capable.

Birth Roots is built on the philosophy of Community Supported Parenting, a facilitation style that focuses on building the “parenting muscle” of the participants rather than teaching a certain style or philosophy of parenting. Most of the families that find their way toBirth Roots are interested in learning about many approaches and appreciate the respectful dialog and resource sharing that happens in our classes and groups. Bringing more support and encouragement to families and more awareness about the amazing growth and development tha thappens during this intense life transition is Emily’s contribution to a healthier,happier, more connected community.
