Nathan Nickerson
Nate Nickerson worked for many years in Boston and Portland as a nurse practitioner and public health professional focusing on both the direct provision of healthcare, as well as the development of systems of care delivery, for people who would otherwise not have had access to care. Locally and most recently, Nate served as director of public health for the City of Portland where he was very involved in developing programs for care of people who are homeless, people dealing with mental illness and addictions, and people who lacked access to care due to poverty. Nate is a founding director of Konbit Sante in 2001 which inspired him to change his focus to global health issues. He joined the Konbit Sante staff as its first executive director in 2005, and earned his doctorate in international public health from Boston University in 2007.
