Emily and Nigel met in graduate school while studying biology at Harvard. After an evening of bioluminescent kayaking on Tomales Bay, Nigel proposed to Emily at a lookout point that had views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city lights of San Francisco (Nigel’s hometown). He used a ring pop (watermelon flavored) and Emily loved it. When it came time for wedding planning, they wanted a weekend of fun and games such as canoeing, kickball, and square dancing. Camp Wildwood, a boys’ summer sports camp, provided the ideal setting.

“We joked about creating a registry at REI for the sole purpose of putting a tandem bike on it, but then we balked. You can imagine how surprised and elated we were when our friends unveiled a fuchsia tandem bike with trailing beer cans,” says Emily.

MUSIC: Emily’s banjo teacher’s band, the Hi-Tone Ramblers, provided the square dance music, and his friend called the square dance.

DECOR: “We wanted to preserve the casual camp vibe while also keeping it classy for a wedding. The overhead streamers and lights made it happen,” says Emily.

DRINKS: Emily and Nigel are both craft beer lovers, so Beautiful Days created a wooden stand for local craft beers: Baxter Brewing Stowaway IPA, Magic Hat #9, Notch Session Pils, Allagash Black, and Maine Beer Company Peeper.

DRESS: Emily went with a short dress that she fell in love with on Etsy. Designed by Leanne Marshall, it was perfect for the camp setting and square dancing.
